First Impressions - Clients and Candidates

I read a really interesting article on LinkedIn the other day and thought I’d share the info with you as it’s something which is really applicable to all our Clients and all the Candidates who we work with as well.

It’s about making the best First Impressions albeit the Employer or the Employee.  Both parties need to maximize their impact during the first week as this can set the tone for the rest of the working relationship.

  • Why not invite any future starters to any social events you have scheduled. This is a great and really informal way of them getting to know their colleagues and instantly gives them the sense of being in a team. It can also help settle any ‘new starter’ nerves on their first day.
  • Try to make the induction as useful as and informative as possible. The more the new employee knows about you, the more they will feel part of the team.
  • Again the induction process needs to be seamless. Be confident in presenting your business and really know the information you’re delivering.
  • Be interested in your new starter. Getting to know them on more of a personal level will make them feel more comfortable and hopefully increase productivity – they’ll feel more at ease with the responsibilities of their role.
  • Make them feel welcome from the off-set. In the long run, this will improve your business brand and encourage people to want to work for you!

  • Getting to know your colleagues before you start is a great way to settle any nerves you may have prior to starting so if your Employer doesn’t suggest a social meet, why don’t you? This not only shows that you’re eager to start but also suggest that you’re a great team associate.
  • Knowledge is a great thing! Keep in regular contact with your new employer before you start. Ask for company information, any targets / objectives or future goals of the business. Start your first day with as much information as you possibly can.
  • Be receptive to new ideas and ways of thinking. Experience is wonderful, and you’ve been offered the new job based on this, but refrain from saying things like ‘in my last job’, ‘where I worked before’. It’s great to draw on experience, but it’s even better to learn new skills!
  • Stay away from the office gossip! Engage in small conversations with everyone and really get to know your colleagues for yourself, not from others.
  • Finally and probably the most obvious – be punctual, be smart and just do your best! You’ve already done the hard part and got the job offer. These tips will help you pass your probation period and hopefully build a long standing career with your new employer.

I hope you've found the above useful. At Juice Personnel we endeavour to find the right people for local businesses; as well as securing the right jobs to match to our Candidate skills and needs. "In terms of feedback, you kindly found me something in the interim and were always very efficient and helpful if I had an queries relating to pay, terms, start and end dates, ect. You also kept in touch with me by telephone and via a job board email, which was helpful, in helping me find work. Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending your company to anyone and wish you well in your future endeavours."

Sam Bingley - Temporary Worker

"I have worked for Juice Personnel now for 15 years. They have supplied me with work for 95% of that time, when requested. If I have had to give back word on shifts, as long as I have I gave good notice, they have always understood and not chastised me. The staff have always been respectful, as have I, and I have always have had queries handled swiftly and to my satisfaction. Thank you to all staff for your professionalism and most importantly, paying on time all the time with no hassle. It's a pleasure to work for an agency you respect, and are respected in return. A real team spirit. I would recommend anyone to register with this agency, whether you use it or not, they will always be there when needed."

"We have never used a recruitment agency before so needed an agency that understood what we needed and who we could build a long term partnership with. Juice have been great and found us a candidate who was a perfect fit for our business."

Northern Media

"All I can say is my experience with Juice Personnel was friendly and proficient. In no time at all I was set up for interviews that suited my capabilities and requirements. All communication was both helpful and timely with a very polite manner. If I ever needed an agency again, I would be contacting Juice Personnel."

Anthony Matthews - Placed in a permanent position

"After working in transport for over 45 years, mostly as a hgv driver, I took an early retirement package, and decided to work as an Agency driver. I worked for a few agencies and then joined Juice. It is like working for a family company. Everyone is approachable, and helpful, and happy. I have now worked for Juice for over 3 years. I work a few days a week between holidays. Although I swap my days around, Juice always seem to find me work when I want it, working for companies that I like working for, and at times that suit me. I have never had a problem with my wages. Although I am now officially retired, I plan to continue working for a few years yet, and I have no intention of working for anyone other than Juice. In my opinion, they are the best agency around.
