First Impressions - Clients and Candidates

I read a really interesting article on LinkedIn the other day and thought I’d share the info with you as it’s something which is really applicable to all our Clients and all the Candidates who we work with as well.

It’s about making the best First Impressions albeit the Employer or the Employee.  Both parties need to maximize their impact during the first week as this can set the tone for the rest of the working relationship.

Employers:

  • Why not invite any future starters to any social events you have scheduled. This is a great and really informal way of them getting to know their colleagues and instantly gives them the sense of being in a team. It can also help settle any ‘new starter’ nerves on their first day.
  • Try to make the induction as useful as and informative as possible. The more the new employee knows about you, the more they will feel part of the team.
  • Again the induction process needs to be seamless. Be confident in presenting your business and really know the information you’re delivering.
  • Be interested in your new starter. Getting to know them on more of a personal level will make them feel more comfortable and hopefully increase productivity – they’ll feel more at ease with the responsibilities of their role.
  • Make them feel welcome from the off-set. In the long run, this will improve your business brand and encourage people to want to work for you!

Employees:

  • Getting to know your colleagues before you start is a great way to settle any nerves you may have prior to starting so if your Employer doesn’t suggest a social meet, why don’t you? This not only shows that you’re eager to start but also suggest that you’re a great team associate.
  • Knowledge is a great thing! Keep in regular contact with your new employer before you start. Ask for company information, any targets / objectives or future goals of the business. Start your first day with as much information as you possibly can.
  • Be receptive to new ideas and ways of thinking. Experience is wonderful, and you’ve been offered the new job based on this, but refrain from saying things like ‘in my last job’, ‘where I worked before’. It’s great to draw on experience, but it’s even better to learn new skills!
  • Stay away from the office gossip! Engage in small conversations with everyone and really get to know your colleagues for yourself, not from others.
  • Finally and probably the most obvious – be punctual, be smart and just do your best! You’ve already done the hard part and got the job offer. These tips will help you pass your probation period and hopefully build a long standing career with your new employer.

I hope you've found the above useful. At Juice Personnel we endeavour to find the right people for local businesses; as well as securing the right jobs to match to our Candidate skills and needs. Testimonials

"I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Juice Personnel for their assistance in helping me gain my recent employment, in particular Resourcing Consultant Viki Freeman who was very professional, extremely helpful and did an excellent job in representing me to a prospective employer which led me to successfully gain an interview, which ultimately resulted in a job offer. Viki always kept me up to date with how things were progressing, unlike previous recruitment agencies I have used where I was the one doing all the chasing for progress. I would also like to mention Kelly Smith who again with great professionalism was very helpful to me. Once again thank you, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for future employment to try Juice Personnel."

Jayne Noble - Placed in a permanent position

"I can not thank Juice enough for there kind professional help towards me getting a new job. I was out of work at the time and starting to panic about what to do next but Juice reassured me and found me the perfect job and was by my side right to the end and after my third interview with the company I got the job! Juice was always on hand if I ever needed them for advice on interviews or there afterwards to let them know how I got on. I highly recommend Juice to anyone. Thank you again!"

Jessica Rowley - Placed in a permanent position

"After working in transport for over 45 years, mostly as a hgv driver, I took an early retirement package, and decided to work as an Agency driver. I worked for a few agencies and then joined Juice. It is like working for a family company. Everyone is approachable, and helpful, and happy. I have now worked for Juice for over 3 years. I work a few days a week between holidays. Although I swap my days around, Juice always seem to find me work when I want it, working for companies that I like working for, and at times that suit me. I have never had a problem with my wages. Although I am now officially retired, I plan to continue working for a few years yet, and I have no intention of working for anyone other than Juice. In my opinion, they are the best agency around. "

Ron Harrison - Class 1 Driver

"I found Juice Personnel and their staff to be extremely helpful with my job search. I was kept fully updated on any changes to my application and on any other potential vacancies. I have recommended Juice to friends colleagues and would recommend their services again. Great team of people."

Kirsty Hewson - Long term temporary worker

"Juice Personnel, is an extremely friendly, down to earth recruitment agency, whom I have used twice in my young professional career. The first being back in 2010, when I had first graduated and a little lost in the world of employment. They secured me a great temporary job, in which I had requested and in turn, developed in to a full time position. Since then, after moving on, traveling the world, I again found myself in the position of looking for a career change. I instantly remembered the amazing service and supportive nature of Juice and called them to help me find my current position. I cannot thank them enough for their helpful, friendly and supportive role, which they took in finding my new career and could not recommend them enough to others! Thank you Bex and the rest of Juice for all your efforts!"

Hannah Raison - Permanent Candidate

"I have worked for several different agencies in my working life and Juice Personnel is in my opinion the friendliest and most helpful team of people I have come across. They go out of their way to help and support their clients. I would happily recommend them. I am excited about my new journey that I didn't feel was possible. I mean every word of this Thanks all!! "

Lisa Baker - Temporary Worker
