Key Responsibilities
PR / Communications
Co-ordinate all communications activities
Design, produce and distribute high-quality written, printed and digital promotional material for a variety of audiences.
Liaise with the diocesan communications team, feeding information into the diocesan clergy mailing and website.
Produce and circulate press releases and be first port-of-call for media enquiries.
Develop and maintain the Clients relationship with local media: press, radio and TV.
Commission photographs and videos, maintain a database of images and films.
Hold responsibility for the publicity on the screens inside
With the Senior Management Team, create short, medium and long-term PR campaigns as required for specific projects
Hold responsibility for maintaining the cathedral brand and style guide for its communications
Social media
Creating content which tells our own story from our own people
Be responsible for the website, keeping content fresh and engaging
Be responsible for the co-ordination and maintenance of the social media presence, producing or commissioning inspiring posts to reflect activities and delivering an ongoing programme of social media activity
Digital
Working with the SMT, assist with the development of the cathedral’s digital ministry and outreach
Creating digital output – for example, producing and editing video and sound recordings - for the cathedral, communicating stories and key messages to target audiences through a variety of digital media
Marketing
Promote The Client as a place of worship and pilgrimage, and with its facilities, an events venue, a visitor attraction, a resource for city and diocese and a place of music, education and learning
Develop marketing campaigns in response to requirements
Promote internal and external events
General
Provide written updates and evaluation reports as requested by SMT, Chapter and funders on PR, Communications, Marketing, Digital and Social Media activity
Key Skills and Experience
- Excellent IT skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good photography skills
- Excellent working knowledge of social media
- Good working knowledge of design packages (Publisher, Adobe etc)
- Good working knowledge of databases
- Good working knowledge of GDPR
- Knowledge of implementing communication strategies

Personal Qualities
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
- Relevant professional marketing / comms/PR qualification
- Extensive recent practical communications experience, including design and PR
- Experience of communicating with a variety of audiences
- Designing of adverts and publicity materials
- Use of social media platforms as communication tools
- Writing copy for websites and publications
- Writing reports for presentation at board level
- Experience of video and sound recording and editing
- Use of databases for communications purposes
- Working in a not-for-profit or charitable organisation
