First Impressions - Clients and Candidates

I read a really interesting article on LinkedIn the other day and thought I’d share the info with you as it’s something which is really applicable to all our Clients and all the Candidates who we work with as well.

It’s about making the best First Impressions albeit the Employer or the Employee.  Both parties need to maximize their impact during the first week as this can set the tone for the rest of the working relationship.

Employers:

  • Why not invite any future starters to any social events you have scheduled. This is a great and really informal way of them getting to know their colleagues and instantly gives them the sense of being in a team. It can also help settle any ‘new starter’ nerves on their first day.
  • Try to make the induction as useful as and informative as possible. The more the new employee knows about you, the more they will feel part of the team.
  • Again the induction process needs to be seamless. Be confident in presenting your business and really know the information you’re delivering.
  • Be interested in your new starter. Getting to know them on more of a personal level will make them feel more comfortable and hopefully increase productivity – they’ll feel more at ease with the responsibilities of their role.
  • Make them feel welcome from the off-set. In the long run, this will improve your business brand and encourage people to want to work for you!

Employees:

  • Getting to know your colleagues before you start is a great way to settle any nerves you may have prior to starting so if your Employer doesn’t suggest a social meet, why don’t you? This not only shows that you’re eager to start but also suggest that you’re a great team associate.
  • Knowledge is a great thing! Keep in regular contact with your new employer before you start. Ask for company information, any targets / objectives or future goals of the business. Start your first day with as much information as you possibly can.
  • Be receptive to new ideas and ways of thinking. Experience is wonderful, and you’ve been offered the new job based on this, but refrain from saying things like ‘in my last job’, ‘where I worked before’. It’s great to draw on experience, but it’s even better to learn new skills!
  • Stay away from the office gossip! Engage in small conversations with everyone and really get to know your colleagues for yourself, not from others.
  • Finally and probably the most obvious – be punctual, be smart and just do your best! You’ve already done the hard part and got the job offer. These tips will help you pass your probation period and hopefully build a long standing career with your new employer.

I hope you've found the above useful. At Juice Personnel we endeavour to find the right people for local businesses; as well as securing the right jobs to match to our Candidate skills and needs. Testimonials

"I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Juice Personnel for their assistance in helping me gain my recent employment, in particular Resourcing Consultant Viki Freeman who was very professional, extremely helpful and did an excellent job in representing me to a prospective employer which led me to successfully gain an interview, which ultimately resulted in a job offer. Viki always kept me up to date with how things were progressing, unlike previous recruitment agencies I have used where I was the one doing all the chasing for progress. I would also like to mention Kelly Smith who again with great professionalism was very helpful to me. Once again thank you, I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for future employment to try Juice Personnel."

Lauren Clark - Temp to Perm placement

"Juice were brilliant at understanding exactly what I was looking for in terms of a career. After just one meeting with them, they had put me forward to the company that I have now been working at for 1 year, and already I have been given the chance to develop and progress. I have never been happier and I think the fact that Juice listened to all the little things I wanted from my next role is exactly the reason that I was placed so perfectly!"

Amy Cooper - Placed in a permanent position

"I have worked for Juice Personnel now for 15 years. They have supplied me with work for 95% of that time, when requested. If I have had to give back word on shifts, as long as I have I gave good notice, they have always understood and not chastised me. The staff have always been respectful, as have I, and I have always have had queries handled swiftly and to my satisfaction. Thank you to all staff for your professionalism and most importantly, paying on time all the time with no hassle. It's a pleasure to work for an agency you respect, and are respected in return. A real team spirit. I would recommend anyone to register with this agency, whether you use it or not, they will always be there when needed."

John Keating - Class 1 Driver

"Juice Personnel is a professionally run and maintained agency with the great ability to balance work to its many members of staff, a very difficult task of late. I am often asked why I have been with Juice so long - 10 dedicated years. Having been to other agencies, they quite honestly just don't compare to Juice is my stock answer. I also tell them that after being with Juice for so many years my wages have never been late; this is very important as you know what you are going to get. So why change something that is right? Dedicated Juice Professional. 10 Years and counting. "

Ian Jenkins - Class 1 Driver

"I can not thank Juice enough for there kind professional help towards me getting a new job. I was out of work at the time and starting to panic about what to do next but Juice reassured me and found me the perfect job and was by my side right to the end and after my third interview with the company I got the job! Juice was always on hand if I ever needed them for advice on interviews or there afterwards to let them know how I got on. I highly recommend Juice to anyone. Thank you again!"

Jessica Rowley - Placed in a permanent position

"From my initial contact through to the registration process I found the staff at Juice Personnel to be very polite and professional. You are treated respectfully and not just another CV on a database. "
